If you bought a home in 2020 and it’s the home you live in, it’s time to apply for homestead exemption. Deadline is March first! According to Seminole County’s website, “Homestead Exemption is a tax reduction allowable to homeowners who make their property their permanent residence. If approved, this exemption could reduce the taxable value of your residence by up to $50,000.” That helps you save on taxes!
Please see my Links page to find the link to your county’s property appraisal web page for further instructions.
If you sold one property and then bought another, tax portability may apply and garner you even more savings. Read my blog for more info. You can apply for that benefit in the same area of the property appraiser website for your county.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out any time.
